What is INSTO?

INSTO facilitates simple, automated peer-to-peer payments for recurring services and installment plans with two core products, INSTO and INSTO+.

INSTO enables independent professionals and freelancers--personal trainers, tutors, graphic designers, and more--to schedule automated billing on a periodic basis.

INSTO+ empowers individual sellers and family businesses to offer interest-free installment plans without turning to expensive loans. INSTO+ is 100% interest-free; only a small transaction fee applies.

How does INSTO work?

Use INSTO to accept payments for recurring services and goods. INSTO bills your customers automatically on a periodic basis for recurring services. INSTO+ bills your customer in up to 12 installments for high ticket items.

Does INSTO charge interest or fees?

At INSTO, we are committed to absolute pricing transparency. Here’s the breakdown: Our payment processor, Stripe, charges a processing fee for both INSTO and INSTO+ plans. We don’t charge anything on top of that for the INSTO plan, but we do charge a fee for the INSTO+ plan. Please refer to Pricing for exact pricing.


What do I need to accept payments with INSTO?

All you need is a US bank account and a mobile number that can receive SMS. You will also need to provide your mailing address, date of birth, email address, and SSN or EIN.

Does INSTO+ enforce a maximum order value?

The total order value is not capped, but any amount exceeding $3000 must be paid as a down payment. The rest may be paid in installments. You get the down payment upfront, and we guarantee the rest.

What if the value of the item I want to sell with INSTO+ exceeds $3000?

Unfortunately, INSTO+ does not support installment plans exceeding $3000. However, if the value of the item you’d like to sell exceeds $3000, you may use INSTO+ to collect the difference as a down payment. For example, if your product's total value is $5000, you may charge a down payment of $2000 and break up the remaining $3000 into installments.

Why do I need a bank account?

You need a bank account to receive payments. It does not authorize INSTO to charge your account.

How do I handle a chargeback?

Please contact customer support. We will provide all the necessary transaction details to resolve the chargeback.

May I sell anything with INSTO?

Unfortunately, our payment processor, Stripe, prohibits certains categories of goods and services. Please see our Prohibited Businesses page and Stripe’s list of prohibited items.


What do I need to start making payments through INSTO?

All you need is a credit or debit card to make payments. You will also need to provide your SSN for us to perform a soft credit check. This soft credit check will not affect your credit score.

Is my transaction safe with INSTO?

We take your security very seriously here at INSTO. All data is encrypted with SSL technology to keep your information safe. We do not sell your information to anyone. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for more details.

Does INSTO perform a credit check?

Yes, we will perform a soft credit check. This soft credit check will not affect your credit score.

What happens if my credit/debit card expires?

We will send you a notification to update your payment method. Please update your payment method before your next billing date.

Can I pay off my INSTO+ installment plan early?

Absolutely. Just select Pay in Full on your buyer dashboard on our website or in our app.

How do I pay my bills?

INSTO and INSTO+ are automatic! We will charge your payment method automatically on the dates agreed upon by you and the seller.

How do I request a refund?

Refunds are subject to the seller's discretion. Please contact the seller directly using the Contact Seller function on our website or in our app.

Can I cancel a transaction before I receive the goods or services?

Cancellations are subject to the seller’s discretion. Please contact the seller directly using the Contact Seller function on our website or in our app. If the seller agrees to cancel your order, the amount you have already paid (minus service fees) will be refunded as soon as the seller processes the cancellation request. All service fees are non-refundable.
